MIFF is currently recruiting an Events Manager for the 72nd edition of the Melbourne International Film Festival, taking place on 8–25 August 2024. Based in the Melbourne CBD, MIFF runs for 18 days with an extensive and prestigious program of contemporary world cinema, Australian film, red-carpet moments, live performances and unique MIFF experiences attracting audiences of 150,000.  

The Events Manager (read full position description – available as PDF or DOCX) is a key role within the Operations team and encompasses all facets of events management, in conjunction with an external events company, to deliver all events to the highest standard, in accordance with festival values. The MIFF Events Manager will have responsibility for the planning and execution of all MIFF events, including the MIFF galas, Bright Horizon premieres, MIFF Premiere Fund premieres, and other premieres and activations. This is a high-energy and detail-focused role with responsibility for ensuring memorable, unique experiences for festival stakeholders, audiences, talent and guests, within budget, over the 18-day festival period. 

The Events Manager will work in close collaboration with the Events team, Operations team, Guest Services & Special Projects team, Commercial Operations Director, Partnerships team, Philanthropy team and external events company in the delivery of all MIFF events. This role is responsible for the management of two (2) Event Coordinators and an Events Intern.

The Front of House Manager (read full position description – available as PDF or DOCX) is a key role within the Operations team and encompasses all aspects of the recruitment, training, and ongoing management and support of the casual MIFF Front of House team, as well as oversight over ticketholder and guest experience and interaction with the MIFF Front of House team. The Front of House Manager, in conjunction with the Operations Manager, will also liaise with and act as a point of contact for internal MIFF staff to ensure all operational aspects of festival delivery are executed to the highest standard.

The Volunteers Manager (read full position description – available as PDF or DOCX) is a key role within the Operations team and encompasses all aspects of the recruitment, training, and ongoing management and support of the MIFF volunteer program, as well as oversight over ticketholder and guest experience and interaction with MIFF volunteers. The Volunteers Manager, in conjunction with the Operations Manager, will also liaise with and act as a point of contact for internal MIFF staff regarding volunteer resourcing and as advocate for the ongoing development of the volunteer program.
