ALMOST THERE

Greece / Israel, 2004 (MIFF 2004, Homelands The Middle East in Focus)

Director: Sigal Yehuda, Joelle Alexis

Almost There Greece/Israel

Almost There is an intimate and inviting documentary that traces the lives of two Israeli lesbians whose search for happiness leads them to the Greek island paradise of Mykonos.

Belgian-born Joelle has been living in Tel Aviv for 11 years and has had enough of the violence that has engulfed the region. Her partner, Sigal, hiding her sexual identity from her family, feels she must leave the city with Joelle for a more complete life. Together they travel throughout the picturesque Greek landscape, recording a travel diary, each expressing their own feelings as they observe one another and the world around them.

Daring and unflinchingly honest, Almost There exposes a couple who has the courage to confront their fears in a quest for personal fulfilment.
