Lipari

Netherlands, 2007 (MIFF 2007)

Director: Frank Van Den Engel

Lipari

Nino and his twelve-man crew aboard the Simone are among the last of a hardy breed of sun-toughened fishermen who ply the waters around the Sicilian isle of Lipari. Van Den Engel evokes Visconti's La Terra Trema, filtered through a Herb Ritts aesthetic, in this beautifully constructed ‘day in the life'.
