Say goodbye to your last day on Earth.
What's the one quality humans have that aliens don't? Empathy, of course - the lack of which has led to endless wars raging across alien worlds. Now Ulla, one of these empathy-lacking aliens, has found her way to Earth, infiltrating human society under the clever guise of a substitute teacher.
Tormenting hapless students with mind control and taunts, and winning over concerned parents with tears, Ulla manages to hide her true form while figuring out the way of the world and the true place of love in the universe.
A Danish box-office hit, The Substitute won the Youth Jury Award at the 2007 International Children and Young People's Film Festival.
MIFF recommends: Age 12+. Some mild frightening scenes.
