STORY OF RICHARD O, THE

France, 2007 (MIFF 2008, Forbidden Pleasures)

Director: Damien Odoul

STORY OF RICHARD O, THE

A freewheeling sexploration of a man lost in lust.

Driven by lust, Richard (played by Mathieu Amalric in his thrid film at MIFF'08) takes some time off from his girlfriend to investigate his erotic obsession in a hands-on fashion. Embarking on a sexual exploration of the mysteries and eroticism of the women wandering the streets during the Parisian summer, Richard has numerous explicit encounters with many explicit women.

Traversing all the borders of sex, from classic rituals to improbable positions of the Kama Sutra, the search for himself finds Richard blurring his notions of love.

Unflinching and unapologetic, The Story of Richard O examines the use of sex as a way of connecting with other people and the pleasures (and troubles) it can bring.
