BLIND LOVES

Slovakia, 2008 (MIFF 2008, Documentaries)

Director: Juraj Lehotsky

BLIND LOVES

Filmed in the half-lit homes of its four participants, Blind Loves looks at the anxieties of falling in love when you can't see.

Imagine being unable to clink a celebratory glass of champagne, or losing your partner on a crowded dance floor. Peeking into the minutiae of non-sighted existence, this compassionate documentary reveals great insight - without mawkish sentimentality - through many deeply affecting moments.

Winner of the CICAE Award at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

"Touching and original, [Blind Loves] works by unsettling the audience: the question of who's acting (and how much) becomes tangled up with issues about the boundary between sighted and non-sighted perceptions of the world to intriguing effect." - Screen Daily
