OUR CITY DREAMS

USA, 2008 (MIFF 2009, Arts and Minds)

Director: Chiara Clemente

“Quite simply ranks as a work of art.” - Variety

Filmed over the course of two years, Our City Dreams ushers us into the creative spaces of five women artists - Swoon, Ghada Amer, Kiki Smith, Marina Abramovic and Nancy Spero - each of whom possesses her own energy, drive and passion. These women, who span different decades and represent diverse cultures, share something beyond their art: New York, the city to which they have journeyed and now call home.

“This film is inspired by those who have been lured to New York and have stayed for the ride. I respect especially those determined women who have fought their battles and found their voice in a stubborn town.” - filmmaker Chiara Clemente
