Director: Peter Strickland

“At once a road movie, a revenge narrative and a compassionate study of the drawn-out effects of trauma… a remarkable achievement.” - Edinburgh Film Festival

In the Romanian Carpathian Mountains, a woman sets out to silence the demons of her past by avenging herself against the man who raped her 11 years earlier, but finds that the settling of scores is no simple matter.

A rural film noir shot against the gothic beauty of central Romanian Transylvania, this accomplished debut from director Peter Strickland heralds a new voice in British cinema, and is a tense, disturbing examination of the circular nature of violence.

“I didn't want to have the bad guy be the bad guy… What I was asking the audience is - can you forgive?” - filmmaker Peter Strickland
