Felix Greene travelled with his camera over 15,000 miles throughout China to make this visual report on the day-to day life of the Chinese people. Given relative freedom to travel and take photographs, he spent several months collecting twelve hours of film. China! was compiled from this uncensored material.
Much of what emerges is fascinating: clean, modern cities: dance-dramas staged by travelling companies: a superb concert hall; winter in Mongolia. Folk music is used throughout most of the film, and the colour photography is impressive.
