Where Little Demons Dwell

USA, 1985 (MIFF 1986)

Director: Alex Steyermark

Stauffer, a widower lives with his housekeeper of 15 years, a woman both caring and overbearing in her manner. A doctor is brought in to cure a mysterious illness that Srauffer seems to be suffering from. His symptoms are fatigue, anaemia and resttess sleep full of dreammg. Stauffer's main occupations are witching the world go- by below his window and entomology The doctor suggests the insects are responsible for his illness. The film Is highly charged with suspense but also wrongly linked with irony so that it's hard to decide whether to concentrate on solving the enigma or whether to forget about the story and just enjoy the artful wit of the telling.
