For twenty years he left the game alone but finally he was tempted to look into the possibility of playing chess by computer. A mathematician, he creates a program that can beat any average player.

The head of his advertising agency immediately recognizes the publicity stunt potential of challenging the world chess champion, Stefan Coruga, to a match with the computer. Coruga accepts and wins the game in seventeen moves. It is shown on TVi Rosenmund feels like an idiot. He wants a rematch.

He quits his job and dedicates all his attentions to becoming a chess champion himself. His wife, Mary has no choice but to let him carry out his plan. Ironwilled and highly intelligent Rosenmund overcomes all obstacles and earns the right to challenge Coruga. . .
