Venetian Ghost

UK, 1988 (MIFF 1989, Fiction)

Director: George Barber

Ludovico Manin, the last Doge of Venice, is sent to live with a superficial couple on Venice Beach, California (instead of Venice, Italy). Slight bureaucratic bungle. This process sets off a combination of witty post-modern ruminations on the old and new worlds, as Ludo tries to impart some of his 250 years of experience to his new house guests.

George Batber is one of Britain's best known scratch-video makers.
