Germany, 1991 (MIFF 1992, Experimental)

Director: Matthias Mueller

An adept collage of footage culled from various Hollywood films of the early 1950's and 1960's (Sirk's melodramas, Hitchcock's psycho-sexual thrillers.) It provides an incisive commentary on this dominant cinema's depiction of women as both prisoners in the home and the instinctive prey of an ever-penetrating camera. (AD)
