Plot

USA, 1991 (MIFF 1992, Experimental)

Director: Michael Gitlin

A group of strange, disquieting images and sounds turn about in a subtly varied cycle: clouds, a nut being cracked, an obscure geological landscape, particles of matter, a face disfigured in graphics, exaggerated eating noises... and along with shots of open phones, hints of plots, conspiracies, an unspeakable and unspoken dread. "[A] film might be imagined: a film in which the initial figure might not find its place in the flow of a narrative.. .in which the spectator/subject might never be reassured... this would be a film of sustained terror." (T. Kuntzel) (AM)
