Land of the Laugh

Thailand, 1992 (MIFF 1993, Thai Experimental Shorts)

Director: Manit Sriwanichapoom, Yutthasak Choomphonsatien, Siwaporn Pongsuwan, Kompin Kemgumnird

An illustration of a woman's thoughts which tell a story of the struggle for freedom, for democracy...

In undeveloped and developing countries, a coup d'etat or a violent seizure of power from an elected government is a common event.

The-military always claim that "politicians corrupt and destroy the country" in order to justify their rise to the pinnacle of power. Then they abuse their power by savagely suppressing the protesting people's struggle for freedom and democracy.

And this is the TRUTH!
