Magda is married to a particularly dull man and she is unfortunate enough to have an equally dull son.

Frank runs the local car wash and offers Magda bright, sparkling new love. Unable to live without each other he becomes her knight on a shining Lambretta. Throwing away her hair curlers, she leaves the past behind, taking nothing with her but her housecoat.
