Like a wood block print with movement, this naughty film noir-ish animation tells the sordid, sorry tale of twenty four hours in the life of a full time drinker. In his black and white world a squawking TV screen and liquor bottle labels flash spot colour like firecrackers and, true to the genre, cravings lead to crime. Police sirens scream in an expressionistically-lit chase through sinister alleyways and over rooftops. Whirling clock hands mark the passing of time as if this were live action. If it were would Peter Lorre or Charlie Chaplin play the title role?
