“27”

USA, 1996 (MIFF 1996, Experimental)

Director: Greg Sax

It can be argued that experimental cinema has always been 'queer'. But now. Queer Cinema is stirring things up in a new way-in revolt; a calcuiated, cunning, vulgar modernism. The vulgar classism fixed in our popular culture-like the TV family sitcom—is now being peeled back to reveal all that a vulgar mind knows is within. Greg Sax's "27" does exactly this.

"27" is about "boys who play with fire", about caustic feelings: anger, pain in the time of HIV, full-blown bitter political humour, (QT)
