The Soft One and the Hard One

Australia, 1998 (MIFF 1999, Animation)

Director: Belinda Timmins

Set in a strange barren landscape a cute white, fluffy star-shaped creature, the 'soft one", lives in a nest in a cave and spends it's days searching for companionship. One day the soft one discovers a sharp, metallic reptilian worker, the 'hard one', mining in a rocky quarry and decides to take a closer look. Inquisitive and naive, the soft one is easy prey to the hard one's ruthless routine. A story of flirtation, transformation and rebirth featuring clever model animation and a striking design that will tickle your fancy and rub you with it's rough edges.
