RED HILL

Australia, 2010 (MIFF 2010, Homegrown)

Director: Patrick Hughes

An escaped criminal wages a war of retribution against a sleepy town in Victoria's high country in this modern outlaw thriller.

When police officer Shane Cooper (Ryan Kwanten, True Blood) and his pregnant wife Alice relocated to the small country town of Red Hill, they hoped for a quiet life. But any thoughts of a placid country existence are shattered when an escaped murderer (Tom E. Lewis) returns to stalk the men responsible for his conviction. Caught in the middle of what will become a terrifying and bloody confrontation, Shane will be forced to take the law into his own hands if he is to survive.

The debut feature from filmmaker Patrick Hughes - doing triple-duty as writer, director and editor - Red Hill is a taut thriller that unfolds with explosive force.
