LE TABLEAU

France, 2011 (MIFF 2012, Next Gen)

Director: Jean-François Laguionie

LE TABLEAU

“Jean-François Laguionie's consistently enjoyable, inventive and beautifully crafted tale is a color riot suitable for all ages.” - Variety

A rumour has been spreading through the Picture: the Painter will never come back. The fully completed Alldunns, who consider themselves the superior elements within the Picture, start to make things difficult for the incomplete Halfies and the rough charcoal outlines, the Sketchies. In order to restore peace to their kingdom a determined Halfie, a lovesick Alldunn and a resentful Sketchie join forces to find the Painter. Their journey takes them to the very edges of the Picture and beyond.

In the vivid world of Le Tableau, Jean-François Laguionie has crafted a poetic, visually stunning tale of self-discovery that will captivate young and old alike.

MIFF recommends age 8+ (No person under the age of 15 years shall be admitted to the screenings of the said film(s) unless in the company of a parent or adult guardian.)
