Director Mike Mills, the multi-talented multi-hyphenate, is a special guest of MIFF for 2011 - his first film, Thumbsucker, won acting awards at Sundance and Berlin Film Festival; he has directed music videos for Air, Pulp, Moby, Yoko Ono and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, designed CD covers for Sonic Youth and the Beastie Boys, and exhibitions of his graphic design work have been shown in New York, London and Tokyo. Mills joins the festival to talk about making film, making music, and making art, and about his new film, Beginners, starring Ewan McGregor and Melanie Laurent.
