An unconventional and truly original love story, this documentary set amidst the dangerous bare-knuckled world of demolition derbies arrives straight from America's burning-rubber heartland.

Ed 'speedo' Jager lives for demolition derby race meetings. 'It's an addiction', he confesses, 'like nitro-methane through your veins'. A bundle of manic energy, when Speedo hits the tracks he is a whirling dervish, pulverising his opponents in a maelstrom of choking smoke and bursting radiators. Quickly racking up an impressive series of victories, he soon raises the ire of his sore-losing opponents. After a controversial victory in a dangerous 'Figure 8 Demo', Speedo is attacked by rival drivers who accuse him of cheating. Despite this setback, our hero is determined to keep those trophies piling up. While his dreams of success at the track materialise, his personal life hits the skids as his 20-year marriage crumbles. However, when he meets a racetrack official, Liz, his life takes an unexpected turn.
