Ten years after her book about the Sandinista revolution, Nicaragua (1981), Susan Meiselas returns to Nicaragua with filmmakers Richard P. Rogers and Alfred Guzzetti to find the people she photographed and ask them whether they thought the pain and sacrifice worthwhile. Needless to say, many of the answers are ambivalent. The country had been through the Contra war, the economic miracle had not occurred as hoped, but the people of Nicaragua had at least rid themselves of the hated National Guard. Meiselas asks tough questions, both about conflict and the business of recording it.
