“Smoother than the finest liquor, reminds viewers how rarely movies capture the easygoing love embodied in a functional family, with all its support and tenderness.” - Variety

Claire Denis (Beau travail, MIFF 2000; Trouble Every Day, MIFF 03) paints a nuanced portrait of a shifting relationship between a father and daughter in this tender drama set in the suburbs of Paris.

Train driver Lionel lives alone with his daughter Josephine in their quiet apartment building. As they move through the rhythm of their daily lives, they share a closeness with one another that borders on perfect harmony.

But slowly things begin to change, and the time for holding onto the past is coming to an end.

Director Claire Denis is a guest of the Festival.
