A review of women's fashions in Britain during the past sixty years, showing the influence of historical events and social changes upon dress design. Opulent Edwardian ballroom gowns and sports wear from the same period, tubular dresses of the "naughty" twenties and the elegant lines of the thirties are all displayed before the colour camera. War-imposed utility outfits and the popular styles of the post-war years are also seen and closing scenes show some of the clothing available for women today.
