Paul Morrissey, best known as Andy Warhol's film director throughout the 1970s, has made a violent, black comedy certain to churn the stomachs of many in the audience. MIXED BLOOD is located among the ruins of Alphabet City — Avenues A to D on Manhattan's Lower East Side — notorious for its drui trade and street crime. Morrissey deliberately sets out to shock by exaggerating and laughing at most audiences' preconceptions of New York's seediest area. At times like a spaghetti western, at others like an austere Bresson film. MIXED BLOOD is essentially a high energy satire.
