In a dystopian future that frowns, often violently, on individuality, the populace is reproducing too slowly and committing suicide too often. Beautifully, atmospherically shot, it is full of tension tempered by pitch-black absurdist humour and it heralds the arrival of a bold new directorial voice. A must for fans of intelligent sci-fi.
