“It's sometimes said that cinema's power lies in letting us see the world through other people's eyes, an idea taken to a literal extreme by Romanian writer/director Adrian Sitaru.” - Hollywood Reporter

Best Intentions explores, through subjective point-of-view cinematography, the nature of the relationship between a thirty-something man, Alex (Bogdan Dumitrache), and his ill mother (Natasa Raab). Punctuated with the understated humour seen in many other films from the Romanian New Wave, it is an honest and raw account of the neuroses involved with the shock of parental mortality.

In Best Intentions, writer-director Adrian Sitaru (The Cage, MIFF 10) engages with strong performances from Dumitrache and Raab, immersive camerawork and edgy editing, which all add to the palpable tension. A simple but affecting story told in a unique style.

“A slice of life instantly recognizable to [audiences] regardless of nationality.” - Variety
