A ‘coming of middle age' bromantic comedy following a Melbourne cricket team on a wild ride from the suburbs to the Subcontinent, where stumps fly, friendships fray and mates learn that the biggest shots in life are played off the field.

For Edward ‘Teddy' Brown, the end of summer heralds the end of an era. In a desperate bid to hold onto his childhood dreams, Teddy leads his two best mates and their D-grade cricket club to India, where they lose as many matches as they win friends.

Inspired by director Boyd Hicklin's documentary of the same name about the Abbotsford Anglers cricket team on their disastrous but memorable 2001 Indian tour, Save Your Legs! is written by actor Brendan Cowell (ABC TV's The Slap, MIFF 11) and produced by one of the original Anglers, Nick Batzias (Not Quite Hollywood, MIFF 08), as well as Robyn Kershaw (the MIFF Premier Fund-supported Bran Nue Dae, MIFF 09). Cowell also features, alongside Stephen Curry (The King: the Story of Graham Kennedy) and Damon Gameau (the MIFF Premier Fund-supported Balibo, MIFF 09).

Shot in Melbourne and India, it's a film for anyone who's had a dream, for anyone afraid of growing up... for anyone who's had a dream about being afraid of growing up.

Boyd Hicklin is a guest of the festival.

Please note: The session on Sunday 19 August will be screened with open captions and will feature Auslan interpreters for the introduction and the Q&A.
