In a riveting cat-and-mouse game, MIFF favourite Errol Morris goes head-to-head with former US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.

In the nascent stages of the War on Terror, then Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld famously drew a distinction between "known unknowns" and "unknown unknowns". This moment of philosophising became the quote that would define Rumsfeld's reign. A decade on, he faces the camera to answer for a legacy that changed the world forever.

Master documentarian Errol Morris (Tabloid, MIFF 2011), who famously challenged Robert McNamara in The Fog of War, now shines the spotlight on one of the Bush administration's key figures. But unlike McNamara, Rumsfeld is far from an apologetic, remorseful figure.

"It's hard to believe a story this serious can be told in such an involving way, but that is one of this expert documentarian's greatest gifts." – Los Angeles Times
