MIFF is proud to presents a copious program of shorts to delight all lovers of petite film.

International Shorts

We’re proud to announce shorts from some very prominent directors, including The Accordion from award-winning Iranian director Jafar Panahi (The White Balloon, MIFF 2006).

MIFF will also feature a special screening of Scenes from the Suburbs, from offbeat filmmaker Spike Jonze (Adaptation) and featuring the music of Arcade Fire – a big screen experience not to be missed.

We’re glad to announce two quality shorts fresh from screening at the Cannes film festival that will take pride of place in this year’s top-notch program of international shorts: New Zealand film Meathead, from director Sam Holst, and Las Palmas, the latest short from Swedish filmmaker Johannes Nyholm – a MIFF regular.

Australian Shorts

As always, MIFF will feature plenty of well-crafted shorts from closer to home. This year the highly anticipated animated short Nullarbor (by Alistair Lockhart and Patrick Sarell) will feature alongside The Palace by Anthony Maras.

Also screening is Amy Gebhardt's We Were Here, a film cut together entirely from user-submitted YouTube content.
