OMG MIFFsters – it's the second last day!
So much to see, so little time left. How do you choose? Let us help with a couple of suggestions.
If you were blown away by Leos Carax's Holy Motors previously during MIFF, you might want to check out his earlier film the notorious Pola X (pictured), a loose adaptation of Herman Melville’s novel Pierre: or, The Ambiguities. Demonstrating the visual flair and emotional flamboyance his films are known for, Carax’s fourth feature combines poetry, passion, impulsivity and impropriety into an eclectic amalgam of excess. Don't miss this rare chance to see this film – which famously divided audiences upon its release in the 90s – on the big screen. It's on at 4pm this afternoon, at ACMI.
ParaNorman at Hoyts at 1.30pm is one of MIFF Artistic Director Michelle Carey's hot tips, and received rave reviews after its first screening.
And Cannes selection Miss Lovely at 6.30pm at ACMI "offers a visually stunning evocation of a disreputable subculture" notes Variety. It is "something new in Indian filmmaking, neither Bollywood nor traditional art cinema"
