Hi MIFFsters!,
How are you going to spend the last day of MIFF 2012?
Can we suggest watching Our Children (pictured)? Director Joachim Lafosse tackles one of cinema’s, and society’s, last taboos in this intelligent, deeply moving film. His "fifth and finest feature" (Variety) is far more than a story of a mother with post-natal depression; it's a dark domestic thriller anchored by devastating performances. It's on at 6.30pm tonight at Greater Union and this may be your last chance to see it.
Or you could take a brief rest from sitting in a darkened cinema to sit in the darkened Festival Lounge and watch God Bless America director Bobcat Goldthwait in conversation with comedians Peter Helliar and Justin Hamilton. It's on from 4pm. Click here for more information.
Here's to a fantastic final day of MIFF!

MIFF PICKSHong Sang-soo’s In Another Country (pictured, left), stars Isabelle Huppert as a Frenchwoman named Anne. And a Frenchwoman named Anne. And another Frenchwoman named Anne!
Screening in competition at Cannes, In Another Country is classic Hong in the playful way it uses meta-narratives and structure, here blurring the line between three scripts – or is it just one? – and the ‘reality’ of the film to comment on miscommunication and human interconnection.
BOOK NOW for 6.30pm today at The Forum.
Girimunho is a magical, moving portrait that poignantly explores the relationship between tradition and contemporary life, reality and dream, life and death.
BOOK NOW for 4pm today at ACMI.

FESTIVAL LOUNGEFrom 4pm today in the Festival Lounge, prolific and prodigious comic talent Bobcat Goldthwait chats with comedians Peter Helliar and Justin Hamilton. From his directorial debut Shakes the Clown (famously dubbed the “Citizen Kane of alcoholic clown movies” by Martin Scorsese!) to World’s Greatest Dad (MIFF 10) and his new film, God Bless America, which ruthlessly takes apart the inanity of American pop culture, they'll cover Goldthwait's 30-year career in film and television.
Then, from 9pm, Bali Hai – one of Melbourne's best exotica-inspired instrumental artists – present a set of synthesised vintage film classics to close the Melbourne International Film Festival 2012.
Come down and farewell MIFF 2012 with us!
