Hello MIFF Members!
Hope you all had a fantastic time enjoying the cornucopia of cinema that was MIFF 2012. We are already hard at work on plans for 2013, and trying to get out into the glorious spring sunshine as much as possible.
I'm also very happy to announce that Hayley Inch is joining the team as our new Membership Coordinator. Many of you will have met Hayley before, but you'll be seeing her friendly face a lot more from now on, including at our upcoming members preview screenings.
Thanks to Palace Como, Sharmill Films, Elsternwick Classic and the Jewish International Film Festival for bringing you October's members screenings.
Warm regards,
Nicki Russell
Marketing and Communications Assistant

YOU WILL BE MY SONDirected by Gilles Legrand, You Will Be My Son stars Niels Arestrup as Paul de Marseul, a prestigious wine-maker and owner of a renowned chateau and vineyard in Saint-Émilion, whom is disheartened by the notion of his son Martin (Lorànt Deutsch) taking over the family business. When Philippe (Nicolas Bridet) appears at the vineyard, Paul leaps at the chance to name him as his successor, neglecting the wishes of his own son. The tension in this familial triangle comes to a head when an unexpected event changes everything.
Like a fine wine, this drama is full-bodied and complex and provides a fascinating look at the matter of the transmission of knowledge, heritage and tradition in the world of wine.

HITLER'S CHILDRENWhat is it like growing up with an appellation that immediately raises images of murder and genocide? How do you cope with being the children or descendants of the world’s most notorious war criminals?
Hitler’s Children speaks to those who’ve inherited the names of the most powerful figures in the Nazi regime – Himmler, Frank, Goering, Goeth, von Ribbentrop – those responsible for the deep wounds that still scar the German soul two generations later.
Filmmaker Chanoch Ze’evi captures their rapprochement almost 70 years later, as they conclude the time has come to finally move on. In the process, he discovers fascinating similarities between the emotions of the relatives of Holocaust perpetrators and those of survivors, some of whom meet the children of their tormentors in this film.
MONDAY 29 OCTOBER - 7:00PM ELSTERNWICK CLASSIC
