February Members Screening
Hello again members!
You didn't think we'd leave you with just one members screening for this month, did you? MIFF loves you all too much for that! So here's our second screening for the month, a film with a lot of talk behind it and the follow-up to director Lee Daniels' PRECIOUS, the now infamous THE PAPERBOY!
You may have heard that The New Yorker recently touted THE PAPERBOY as a new camp classic, a film so luridly bold and out there that it beggers belief, yet is sinfully enjoyable, and also garnered Nicole Kidman nominations for Best Supporting Actress at both the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Get prepared for a Southern sex-driven melodrama so excessive it would bring Tennessee Williams to shame - come on down to the Nova and experience this "all id all the time" (thanks A.O. Scott) film for yourself!
Speaking of Cinema Nova, make sure you're using your MIFF membership discount like mad at our dear old friend in Carlton. The Nova has always been a wonderful stalwart for the MIFF membership program over the years, offering us plenty of screenings that often feature engaging and challenging films that don't get a chance to screen anywhere else in town. Nova has long been a champion of intriguing and artistic filmmaking, which makes it the perfect place for MIFF members!
Also, if you've booked your ticket for our Astor screening this month, but are now wailing in despair at the prospect of missing some fine Zac Efron action, never fear! As a special treat this month members can book tickets to both sessions! Because no one should miss out on Zefron.

From Oscar nominated director Lee Daniels (Precious) and the writer of Paris Trout comes a sexy, racially-charged thriller set in 1960's Florida. Jack Jansen (Zac Efron) welcomes his brother Ward (Matthew McConaughey) home after a long absence. Accompanied by his British writing partner Yardley (David Oyelowo), Ward is intrigued by the plight of Charlotte Bless (Nicole Kidman in her wild Golden Globe nominated role) and a prisoner she swears is innocent: Hilary Van Wetter (John Cusack). Hoping to uncover a miscarriage of justice, Ward and Yardley become tangled in the sweaty, sun-drenched web spun by their subjects while Jack finds himself increasingly obsessed with the flirtatious Charlotte. At this point you will need to login - if you have forgotten your password you can get a new one emailed to you.
After the checkout you will be able to print your barcoded ticket.
