Red Stitch Actors Theatre, in association with MIFF, presents the Australian Premiere season of THE FLICK, by Annie Baker this August. Directed by Nadia Tass, a regular MIFF associate as director of MATCHING JACK (MIFF2010), AMY (MIFF1998), STARK (MIFF1993) and THE BIG STEAL (MIFF1990), THE FLICK tells the story of Sam, Rose and Avery, the underpaid employees of one of the last remaining film projector cinemas in Massachusetts. They bicker, laugh and dream their way through shifts in the empty aisles. New kid Avery has an encyclopaedic obsession with film, and Sam has an unrequited obsession with Rose. Rose does what Rose wants to do. With keen insight and a finely tuned comic eye, writer Annie Baker examines hidden corners of our existence, revealing the gems of truth that reside therein. Playing exclusively at Shebeen (26 Manchester Lane, Melbourne) from 2 August, MIFF Members receive a discount on tickets!
