Yolngu dancer, musician and performer David Gulpilil, AM, is one of Australia's most acclaimed actors. In 2015, he will join us at MIFF for a celebratory retrospective program, as well as an in-conversation event with Margaret Pomeranz.

Centrepiece Gala

Timothy Conigrave's beloved, bestselling memoir Holding the Man became an award-winning stage play; now, at last, it's been adapted for the big screen. Neil Armfield's film will screen as MIFF Centrepiece Gala on Saturday 8 August at 7pm. Tickets are on sale now.

Recorded interviews with two men detained on the Manus Island Processing Centre are vividly brought to life with animation in Nowhere Line: Voices from Manus Island.

We Buy Your Kids | Festival Artwork

This year's MIFF artwork was created by Webuyyourkids – Sonny Day & Biddy Maroney, from Sydney. They combine handmade and digital techniques to create their work, which they consider to be a conversation between two individuals, played out in colour, shape, texture and drawing from their shared influences of comic books, skateboarding, music and film. Volunteer for MIFF! Applications Open

MIFF relies on the support and engagement of our dedicated volunteers, who become the face of the festival. Volunteers assist with queue management, ticket scanning, cinema ushering and general enquiries from patrons and general public. Applications are now open until Sunday 21 June. Critics Campus 2015 Applications Open

After a successful launch in 2014, MIFF is proud to open the call for applications to its second edition of Critics Campus, an intensive five-day lab that enables emerging Australian film critics to develop their skills in a live festival setting. Critics Campus will take place during the festival’s 64th edition, 30 July–16 August 2015.

Festival Screening Venues Update

For the first time, the Comedy Theatre will be a venue at MIFF. This grand theatre, built in 1928, is full of character and will add to the delight of seeing films on the big screen.

We're also excited to reveal that Treasury Theatre has undergone a renovation and is looking deluxe!
