MIFF x MFWF: Noma, My Perfect Storm

For the very first time, Melbourne International Film Festival will host an event as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival Presented by Bank of Melbourne on Sunday 6 March 2016 at Rivoli Cinemas.

With Noma, Rene Redzepi revolutionised the entire world of gastronomy, inventing the vocabulary that would push a newfound pedigree to Nordic cuisine while radically changing the image of the modern chef.

Join us as the Melbourne International Film Festival presents a screening of Pierre Deschamp's Noma, My Perfect Storm, hot off the plate from international festival premieres in Denmark and the United States, and the winner of San Sebastian Film Festival's Culinary Zinema competition for 2015. February MIFF Members' Screening

Our MIFF Members' screening for February is Brooklyn thanks to our friends at Transmission Films and Lido Cinema.

Adapted from the novel by Colm Tóibín by screenwriter Nick Hornby, Brooklyn is the story of a young woman, Eilis (Saoirse Ronan) who moves from small town Ireland to Brooklyn, NY. There, unlike home, she has the opportunity for work and for a future - and love, in the form of Italian-American Tony (Emory Cohen).

When a family tragedy brings her back to Ireland, she finds herself absorbed into her old community, but now with eligible Jim (Domhnall Gleeson) courting her. As she repeatedly postpones her return to America, Eilis finds herself confronting a terrible dilemma - a heart-breaking choice between two men and two countries.

6.45pm, Wednesday 10 February
Lido Cinema, Hawthorn
