Meet MIFF Ambassador Ben Shewry

Who are you and why are you here

I’m just a Kiwi fella pretending to be an Aussie, which isn’t hard because you Aussies think we are one and the same (are aren’t bro). I’m here because I have a history of making very emo short films about food. In one of them I’m depicted as a tyrannical chef who gets murdered then turned into compost by my staff. Seemed like a good idea at the time, and I didn’t have any lack of staff volunteering for the role of executioner.

Tell us the top three films you're looking forward to from the festival

What is your favourite film of all time?

Jane Campion's The Piano. It was filmed on the farm that I grew up on in rural New Zealand.
