Maya S. Cade

Maya S. Cade is the creator and curator of Black Film Archive and the inaugural CCDI scholar-in-residence at the Library of Congress. She has been awarded special distinctions by the New York Film Critics Circle and the National Society of Film Critics for the Archive. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, NPR, The Paris Review and Vulture, among other publications. In July 2023, Cade was listed on Fast Company’s annual Most Creative Person list. In March 2023, Cade was listed on ESSENCE magazine’s inaugural Young, Gifted and Black list highlighting 10 Black art leaders under 30. In February 2023, she became the first guest film curator to present a film series tied to a museum exhibition at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, the world’s largest film museum. She was the fall 2022 programmer-in-residence at Indiana University Cinema and the fall 2021 research fellow at Indiana University’s Black Film Center & Archive.
