“Every scene hangs like a painting.” - Indiewire In an attempt to cure his crippling writer's block, author Jerzy moves his photographer wife Maria and their seven year-old son Jasiek to the Polish countryside. When his literary crisis continues, the strain on their finances becomes a strain on their relationship, and Jerzy and Maria drift slowly apart. The couple learns that Jasiek is ill and will have to return to the city for an operation. They take it as an opportunity to reflect on the essence of their relationship and they promise Jasiek a visit to a toy automobile shop, something which he has long dreamed of doing. This is the first feature film by Adam Guzinski whose short film Jacob won a Cinefoundation prize at Cannes in 1997.
