Sons and Daughters is a feature length documentary film about youth and controversy. Set in the San Francisco Bay Area during the International Days of Protest, October 15-16. 1965, it records 36 hours in the life of a community challenged by the impact of war. The camera moves from the university campus in Berkeley to the Negro ghetto, from the centres of industry and commerce to the Army training camps, from the conference halls of the city's fathers to the destruction of Vietnam.

Like its historical predecessor, the Social Protest Film of the Thirties, Sons and Daughters tells its story from the point of view of the young people protesting against the war. The film, however, is a sensitively photographed and edited work of documentary art, not propaganda.
