"Nice Coloured Girls is an experimental film dealing with European men's first confrontations with Aboriginal women 200 years ago This is juxtaposed with some present day Aboriginal women's urban ritual: the practice of picking up a captain (sugar daddy).

Most films which have dealt with Aboriginal people have attempted to be realist in approach. In a sense, this film is an experiment in that it questions the now established genre of the Aboriginal film'." Tracey Moffatt
