A great example of Australian documentary making, as progressive as it is poetic."—Megan Spencer, JJJ

Hurt is an Australian docudrama like no other. 250 young Australians, from rural areas and small towns, have been given the opportunity to tell their own stories, with their images, in their own words. Challenging, haunting and ultimately uplifting, Hurt recounts episodes in the lives of these people whose faces have been marked with the lines of experiences beyond their years. Whether walking along bush roads, swimming creeks or dancing around campfires, tales abound of a litany of abuse—being locked in police cells, drug and alcohol problems, stealing handbags. The images are raw and immediate, the stories bold and expressive. An ATOM Awards 2000 finalist for Best Innovative/Creative Production, Hurt is an unforgettable experience.
