One of the greatest American films of its era, this 1971 black comedy focuses on young Harold (Bud Cort) and his preoccupation with death. When he meets Maude (Ruth Gordon), a bright 79-year-old woman whose worldview is considerably sunnier, the two of them forge the unlikeliest of connections.
Directed by the legendary Hal Ashby (Being There) and featuring a score by Cat Stevens, Harold and Maude is a film that could only have emerged from the unrestrained landscape of 1970s American cinema: a dark, hilarious, touching classic.
