"A beguiling, meditative study of the indelible link between memory and identity and the transformative power of love." – The List

After an affair with his younger cousin ends in tragedy, a man builds a museum in homage to their relationship. Filled with artefacts collected over their time together, his shrine tells the story not only of a lost love but also of an entire country in a state of transition.

Orhan Pamuk is both a celebrated author and the creator of an eponymous multimedia installation inspired by his Nobel Prize-winning book, The Museum of Innocence. Both works are inspirations for Innocence of Memories, a highly atmospheric blend of vérité observation, journey through Pamuk's museum and readings from his novel, all filmed on the streets of Istanbul by innovative documentarian Grant Gee (Joy Division; Patience (After Sebald), MIFF 2012).

"This multilayered treatment, blithely blending fact and fiction, proves singularly appropriate to its highly unusual source." – Sight & Sound
