Celebrate the twin world premieres of Have You Seen the Listers? and the VR experience Rone, with this event featuring an all-star line-up of street artists – including the internationally renowned Anthony Lister; artist and Blender Studios director Adrian Doyle; illustrator and contemporary street artist Kaff-eine; and Rone director Lester Francois.
Have You Seen the Listers? is a MIFF Premiere Fund-supported documentary.
Anthony Lister
Anthony Lister started painting in the streets of Brisbane, and today is globally recognised for an artistic practice that blends influences from urban art, expressionism, pop art and contemporary youth subcultures. He has showcased his work in both solo and group exhibitions around the world since 2000, being represented in various public and private collections.
Adrian Doyle
With a career spanning more than two decades, Adrian Doyle has a long list of achievements to his name. As well as being a successful fine artist, Doyle also started Blender Studios in 2001, which have since become one of the most influential art collectives in the field of urban and public art. Doyle also started the Dark Horse Experiment, Melbourne Street Tours, the Melbourne Projection Windows and Blender Creatives. He is currently completing his PhD on the influence street art has had on Australia’s fine art.
Lester Francois
Lester Francois is the producer/director of the 2015 feature documentary GameLoading: Rise of the Indies. He is fascinated by subcultures and has been exploring these underground worlds through his work. Lester is currently producing a series of short VR docs about street artists for his umbrella project, Can’t Stop. Won’t Stop. Lester has been working in VR since early 2016 and has a mix of 360 video and interactive projects in development. A graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts in 2007, Lester is passionate about visual storytelling and has developed a variety projects including feature docs, factual TV, branded content, scripted series and experimental films.
Kaff-eine
Kaff-eine is a street and contemporary artist known for her painterly freehand style and melancholic characters, and her creative social impact projects. She has painted around the world; exhibited; collaborated with diverse communities; and with her creative collective Cheeseagle produced two documentaries including the award-winning Happyland (2017), which follows her art-as-housing project with the notorious Happyland dumpsite slum community in Manila, Philippines. Most recently, Kaff-eine was one of six street artists invited to paint on decommissioned wheat silos for the Silo Art Trail, Australia's largest outdoor art gallery; her painting in Rosebery is due for completion in September 2017. Kaff-eine is currently interested in exploring the potential for her visual art and film projects to create social impact; and further developing her street art as a storytelling medium.
