A man literally finds himself in the doghouse in this bleak and barking absurdist dark comedy.

It’s a dog’s life for Jacques Blanchot (Vincent Macaigne, Eden). His wife (Vanessa Paradis) claims to be allergic to him and leaves for another man; he loses his job and his apartment; and the dog he bought to keep him company does not last long either. Abandoned, he falls into the care of a sadistic dog trainer, who treats him like one of his animals – and soon Jacques is curled up in a kennel, living like a mutt.

Writer/director Samuel Benchetrit takes a dark, surreally funny look at the downfall of a man discarded by society, crafting a Kafka-esque fable with its own droll and grim humour and offbeat sense of humanity.

"Frequently hilarious, surreal and deranged … it’s hard not to laugh or be moved by such strange, joyous filmmaking." – The Upcoming
