The story is told from the perspective of an adult looking back to 1962 when he was twelve years old. The main character, Steve, and his best friend, Pete, are in the summer of their lives. The most important things to them, to any guy at twelve, are hanging out with their other buddies, having blood pacts, and playing British Bulldog. Life couldn't have be better. . . until Marilyn Hotchkiss shows up with her 'Ballroom Dancing & Charm School'.

The film is certainly fun, and has something for adults and children alike. The issues of peer group pressure, growing up and mateship are explored in this charming, classic narrative.
