Generation: The Sam Spiegel Film School 1993-2002 Israel
The Sam Spiegel Film School in Jerusalem has been producing award-winning short films since the start of the 1990s, and this year the Festival presents an overview of the finest work from this respected institution.
Party Line (1993) A day in the life of a fantastically neurotic group of friends, whose trials, tribulations and mediations all seem to occur via their telephones.
In Good Hands (1994) A criminal, on the run and with a truck full of stolen cash, invades the remote cabin home of twin sisters'and lives to regret it.
The Price is Right (1994) A stock clerk in a supermarket is a Price Is Right fanatic. He has a chance to win fame, fortune and the love of the checkout girl if he wins the grand prize.
Chester, Jones & I (1997) Three teenage boys fancifully plot a Marxist revolution during the languid summer holidays. Times will change, but not in the way they think.
Sea Horses (1998) 10-year-old Noam's parents have decided on a trial separation. Until the trial period is over, Noam will not have a family. Directed by Nir Bergman, with all the humanity and beauty of his feature Broken Wings (MIFF 2003).
Cock Fight (2001) On a hot summer day Marziano, an Israeli chicken breeder, drives his chickens to market. They are brought to a halt at a Palestinian roadblock. Marziano is forced to confront Nabil, the commander in charge, who used to work for him.
