A scriptwriter sits in his apartment chain-smoking as his plants die around him, furiously writing his next screenplay. His character, a young man, escapes southern China after killing his lover and heads for a small town on the northern border. The character's journey inspires the writer to take the same path and, in doing so, boundaries are obscured. Multiple award-winner, including prizes at this year's Rotterdam Film Festival.
